The City of Ponca City requires permits for accessory structures over 200 square feet through the Development Services department at City Hall. Setbacks in established additions like North Central, the area around Marland Mansion, and the Arlington neighborhoods typically run 5 feet on sides and 25 feet front, but several blocks near the historic district have additional design considerations because of their proximity to the Marland-era architecture. Properties near the old Conoco refinery footprint sometimes have utility easement complications worth checking before site selection. Out at Kaw Lake and in unincorporated Kay County, permit requirements are looser, and you mostly need to clear setback and septic distances. The Ponca Tribe also has jurisdiction on tribal lands within the area, with separate permit processes.
